This Privacy Policy describes how GodIsTherapy.com ("we," "our," or "the site") handles information when you visit our website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data practices of third-party services we use.

1. Information We Collect

You can browse GodIsTherapy.com without an account, in which case we do not directly collect personally identifiable information from you.

If you create an optional account, we store the information you choose to provide — your name, email address, profile details (such as a favorite scripture, prayer request, home church, or location), quiz scores, and any journal entries you save. This data is stored securely with Supabase, our authentication and database provider, and is never sold or shared with advertisers. Journal entries are private to your account.

AI personalization (optional, off by default). If you turn on "Personalize my journal prompts" in your profile, excerpts of your recent journal entries are processed by an AI service (OpenAI) solely to generate content for you on this site: a daily journaling prompt tailored to you, a short weekly reflection on your past week, and — after you save an entry — a single reflective question about what you wrote. These are shown only to you on the site and are never included in any email. Your entries are not used for AI training, are not shared for any other purpose, and are never processed this way unless you have explicitly enabled this setting. If an entry contains language suggesting you may be in crisis, no AI processing takes place and we show support resources instead. You can turn personalization off at any time.

Guest journaling and reading plans. If you write a journal entry without an account, it is saved only in your browser's local storage on your device — it is not sent to us. The same applies to reading-plan progress. If you later create an account on the same device, your local entry is moved into your account.

If you subscribe to our emails without an account, we store only your email address (and a first name if you give one) in our own database, together with the date you confirmed your subscription. We use it solely to send the emails you signed up for. See section 4.

2. Cookies and Tracking

We do not set first-party cookies. However, third-party services embedded on this site may set cookies on your device:

3. Google AdSense and Google Ads

This site uses Google AdSense, a service provided by Google LLC, to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other sites on the internet. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits.

We also use Google Ads to promote this site. The Google Ads tag on our pages lets Google measure conversions (for example, whether an ad click led to a newsletter sign-up) and, where we enable remarketing, build an audience of past visitors so that ads for GodIsTherapy.com can be shown to them on Google and its partner sites. This does not give us access to your personal identity. You can opt out of Google's use of cookies for personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, and opt out of remarketing by installing the Google Ads opt-out tools.

4. Newsletter and Email

Our emails — the weekly devotional newsletter, the weekly Bible and therapy quiz, and the faith and mental-health news briefing — are sent by Resend, a third-party email delivery service that processes your email address on our behalf in order to deliver each message.

Subscribing without an account. When you enter your email on our site, we send you a confirmation email first. You are not subscribed, and receive nothing further, unless you click the confirmation link. This protects you if someone else enters your address.

Subscribing with an account. Account holders can turn each email type on or off from their profile page.

Unsubscribing. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link in its footer that works without signing in. Unsubscribing stops all of our emails; account holders can re-enable individual emails from their profile. We never include the contents of your journal entries in any email.

5. External Links

Our site contains links to external websites including therapist directories, mental health resources, and news sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing any personal information.

6. Children's Privacy

GodIsTherapy.com is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
